Emil Depiero, Interior / Furniture Designer
Job/Vocation Description
Emil Depiero, with 45 years of Interior Design experience, has developed several successful Architectural Interiors for various types of Commercial and Residential clients. During the first years, his practice was focused on interiors for homes and on small commercial projects. Later on in his career, he provided designs and space planning for Corporate Interiors and developed the furniture line, Abbelare.
Many of his very successful interior projects incorporated his talent for creative furniture design.
Education
Emil attended the University of Kansas and graduated with a Degree of Bachelors of Fine Arts - with a specialty in Industrial Design and a minor in Architectural Design.
First Project
Hired by the Del Webb Corporation, Emil was asked to re-design the exterior and interiors of the Mountain Shadows Country Club, Phoenix, Arizona.
First Mentor
Burt England, of Cannell & England, was an inspiration and mentor during the earlier years. Arthur E. Finkel provided guidance and support for Emil's development and growth as an accomplished designer.
First Break
Emil worked in the offices of Albert C. Martin Associates. He was offered an opportunity to become the Director of Design for the NY and LA offices of ERD. He later became the President of ERD, Los Angeles - a commercial interior design firm.
In 1978, Emil founded Depiero Associates.
